Who is Deacon Dave? Deacon Dave Rezendes is a Roman Catholic Permanent Deacon. He was ordained to the ministry 43 years ago on December 4th, 1982. Deacons in the Catholic Church are one of the 3 holy orders of clergy, Deacon, Priest, and Bishop. Each of the three orders of the clergy have distinct duties and responsibilities. Yes, Deacon Dave is a member of the Catholic Clergy at St. Michael Church in Livermore. He was also the Director of Deacon Personnel and the Bishop’s representative to the Deacons of the Dioceses of Oakland for 23 years. The Deacon is a 4th generation life long Livermore resident. His great grandparents and grandparents farmed in the North Livermore area. Deacon Daves mother turned 102 years old this November.
Light count for 2025. Last year we experienced a large amount of damage to the lights during take down. We purchased additional lights but do not anticipate that we will reach our 2024 light count. The new light crew will work up to the last minute to see how close we can get to last year. Deacon Dave thanks the crew for a job well done.
Santa’s Secret Service was founded 63 years ago at St. Michael Church. Deacon Dave is the Secretary General of the organization. Christmas gifts are collected, purchased, and given to people of all faiths or no faith. The gifts are distributed to care homes, homes for the elderly, VA home, infirmaries for elderly nuns, shut-ins and homeless. This is Deacon Dave’s favorite charity.
