Deacon Dave steps up to the podium to deliver the opening night address. Each year the display opening is celebrated by a candlelight procession up Hillcrest, followed by the Livermore Granada High Schools Choir, and of course the blessing of the lights.

The yard is in complete darkness, and following the cry of “Let there be light”, the magnificent display comes to light to the delight of the crowd. This event is held yearly on the first Saturday of December at 6pm.

Some of you may remember the Passport Office. Volunteers greeted the crowds, and handed out candy canes to the children. A dated souvenir “passport” was handed out to everyone wanting a keepsake of the season.

The crew likes a spectacular entrance, and a 5′ diameter spinning globe was just the thing to welcome visitors on their journey around the world. The papier mache ball, with wood frame, was suspended on a rebar frame.
