1998 – Charles Dickens a Christmas Carol

Light Count = 184,000

1998 Christmas Theme

A recreation of an English village telling the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly search for the spirit of Christmas. Guests visited Marley’s Counting House, Bob Cratchit’s home, village stores, Scrooge’s home, and looked on while the ghosts of Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future enlightened Scrooge to his miserly ways.

184,000 lights

It was another banner year. With just one week until opening, PG&E was called in to install a new
transformer to feed 400 amp service to the display. Everything was working until the day before opening
when ‘boom!’, the old circuit breaker blew out. John and David worked late into the night reconfiguring
the main power supply to the house, and behold – the lights came on for Christmas 1998.
